Augustus Pabloが発掘した、当時16歳のラスタ・シンガーHugh Mundellによるマスターピース ”Africa Must Be Free By 1983”のリリース直後、Pablo自身の指揮の元、King TubbyスタジオでPrince Jammyが仕上げたDub盤。煙のように空間に霧散するグルーヴの輪郭を、次なる情動が両手で掬い上げてゆく8つのDub。UK再発盤。
原盤の表題曲で「1983年までにアフリカは解放されるべきだ」と歌ったHugh Mundellは、その83年に、21歳の若さで何者かによって暗殺。愛弟子の死を知ったPabroは、一体どれほどの悲しみに打ちのめされたのか。推し量ることはとてもできません。

Shortly after the release of "Africa Must Be Free By 1983," a masterpiece by 16-year-old Rastafarian singer Hugh Mundell, discovered by Augustus Pablo, Prince Jammy completed this dub album at King Tubby Studios under Pablo's direction. This album contains eight dub tracks, in which the contours of the groove dissipate into space like smoke, and the next emotion scoops it up with both hands. UK reissue.
Hugh Mundell, who sang in the title track of the original album that "Africa should be liberated by 1983," was assassinated by unknown assailants in 1983 at the young age of 21. It is impossible to imagine the grief Pablo felt upon learning of the death of his beloved disciple.
